What you are suggesting is only might and a maybe and requires another country to make a complaint – however, it in no way legally stops us being allowed to drop border controls – we wouldn’t be breaking WTO rules. Susan Freemantle If you read my comments, you’ll see I said there is nothing in WTO rules that requires us to secure our borders and that there was nothing legally stopping us from dropping all our border controls. What I said was that it’s all or nothing – we can’t choose to secure our border with Ireland AND keep controls with other WTO countries.
