Bloodmagic does not necessarily need Excuse the Chicago in me shirt. Bloodsacrifice needs blood. I don’t think it fully needs someone’s life. There is Cersei and Maggy the Frog, where Maggy needs a droplet of Cersei’s blood to use her powers. We also have Mel birth shadow-babies by taking the life force of Stannis. It is obvious that she is creating life from Stannis’ life-fire. Stannis grows weaker and changes post the shadowbabies. Thoros resurrects Beric accidentally. In the process he uses his own life-fire, a part of his own livelihood to bring back Beric.
